Different Strokes from Different Folks Portrait Challenge

Torrie Smiley
Painted by Chelsie Brady

I have been having a wonderful time participating in the "Different Strokes from Different Folks" painting challenge blog. At the end of the year, our photos were anonymously matched with another artist and we were asked to paint a portrait from the supplied picture. I was a bit hesitant, not being a portrait artist and not wanting to embarrass myself or disappoint the artist I was painting. I must say, I am so glad I decided to participate. I received the most lovely portrait from a fabulous young artist that I would have never met otherwise. I feel fortunate to have been matched with Chelsie Brady. She is a talented young artist with many years of success to come! Chelsie's work can be seen at her website Chelsie Brady and you can purchase her paintings from her Etsy.com store.

New Year and new DSFDF painting challenge. This is going to be a challenge. I have not done many "night time" paintings. I will be painting this on a small canvas in either oil or acrylic.

Well, off to the studio to get a bit accomplished before bed!

Portrait Swap at EBSQart.com

Murphy and Nik

This is the completed portrait for the 2007 Portrait Swap at EBSQart.com. Here is a link to the complete show:

Nicloe Helbig painted me and I just love it! She is a very talented artist.

Now off to the studio for more painting. I am thinking about starting the daily painting thing....I will try and see if I can keep up the pace for a while before making a commitment. It will definitely be after all the leaves have fallen in the yard and there is no more messy yard to clean up!

Thanks for stopping by and check out the portraits at EBSQart!

New to Squidoo

Lost Marbles Series Seven

So many websites, so little time. I have a new "lens" at www.Squidoo.com I really do like this site. It gives links to current paintings on eBay of mine and some of my favorite artists too. There is also a spot for blog updates and other fun stuff. I will continue to blog and you can also visit my new Squidoo site:

I am almost done with the portrait of Nik and Murphy. It should be done on time for the portrait swap on www.ebsqart.com but just barely. I hope she likes it. She did a wonderful job on my portrait with my two girls in the background. I love it!

I am almost recovered from my cold and I did manage to spread it to at least one other person...even though I stayed in, Courtney's friend visited over the Thanksgiving Holiday and she did catch it. Sorry Lindsay.

We had a wonderful fun and food-filled Thanksgiving Holiday. I should have just enough time to lose the Thanksgiving pounds before Christmas.

New artwork on the way....something new and different, to be listed in December.

Thanks for stopping by.

Under the Weather

California Poppies III

Available for Purchase at:

Sorry, I have not been around. Miranda came down with pneumonia and I took really good care of her, until she passed it on to me. I am not the stay-in-the-bed kind of person, but this time I really had no choice. I had Sadie (Miranda's dog) and Stella (my dog) on each side of me in the bed with a huge box of kleenex and we slept and coughed and sneezed for days! I did get my flu shot earlier this month and was quite proud of myself, being proactive to stay healthy and busy this winter.......it is not even cold yet! Needless to say, I am off to a slow start to the busiest time of the year.

I have begun the portrait in the "Portrait Swap" contest at http://www.ebsqart.com/ but I do not like it and I have started over. Hopefully, this new start will be better.

I will try to get new art posted soon, but bear with me. This is the time of year for commissions for Christmas gifts and free painting time is hard to come by.

Courtney is coming home for Thanksgiving, so I am off to buy tons of food for the Holidays!

Thanks for checking in!
