Orange and Grapes

Orange and Grapes
5" x 7"
Acrylic Paint on Ampersand Gessobord
Collection of the Artist

I love this one!  I should paint oranges more often.  It was fun to paint and so hungry painting, I ate the prop before I was finished.   That is why I paint so many pears.  I don't like pears and don't eat them, so they last for several paintings~

Orange and Grapes was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a museum quality gallery Ampersand Gessobord. Painting can be placed in a small frame and also be placed on a small easel for display.

This is the last of the paintings from the weekend~  Thinking of what to paint next.....maybe landscapes!

Thank you for stopping by~

Time to paint again!

My surgery went well and I am on the mend.  Miranda's surgery was successful.  My new granddaughter and Miranda are going to be fine!  Audrey is very excited to have a new sister arriving in October. The ultrasound showed very long legs, just like her daddy~ After a less than wonderful six months, the six months to come are going to be fabulous!

I am getting all the paint and canvas out and painting again ~ wooohoooo!

Sea of Clouds was completed just before my surgery and the final varnish is going on today~

Sea of Clouds was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a museum quality gallery wrapped canvas. The gallery wrapped sides of the canvas are painted to allow for hanging with or without a frame.

Thank you so much for continuing to follow my work, especially during the hard times when new paintings were rarely posted.

Day 5~  Thirty paintings in thirty days in September  ~30 Paintings in 30 Days with Leslie Saeta.

Continuing with the Sunflowers.  I was pressed for time to stay caught up and still work on the larger still life sunflower painting.  One of my sunflowers took a dive and had to be separated from the others.  When I put it off to the side in a small bottle, I noticed a cute shadow.  I thought this would look good on canvas and painting was born.

Sunflower with Shadow was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a museum quality gallery wrapped canvas with painted sides to allow for hanging without a frame. Painting can also be placed on a small easel for display.

Tonight, I am having dinner with friends, so I might get a day behind, but I will catch up on Friday night!

Pears!

Pears!

Today we were asked to make a collage of some of our paintings currently available for purchase.  I selected my pear paintings for a very special reason.  It all started with pears.  About ten years ago, I decided to follow my dream of being a painter.  I started painting pears.  Pears in all shapes and colors~ loose and impressionistic, sometimes more realistic, but always colorful!  Whenever I am away from painting for any length of time or lose my inspiration to paint, I paint a pear.  It sparks my energy and gets me back into the artistic groove.  For this reason, there will always be pears.  Short fat ones, tall skinny ones, but always colorful!  ~ Interestingly, I don't eat pears...I think they taste bad~  HA!

These paintings are all available for purchase and can be found at my Website gallery or my Etsy.com store.

Tomorrow is another painting day~  I will be painting grapes, lemons, limes.....and maybe a pear!

Thanks for stopping by~

The Paintings of January ~ what I learned

The Eighteen Paintings of January

I tried really hard to keep up with the 30 Paintings in 30 Days with Leslie Saeta.  I finished eighteen paintings before I crashed and burned.  It was a great experience and I learned so much.

First, it is quite difficult be a daily painter and also have a full time job.  I am fortunate to work from home, so travel to and from work is not an issue, I am always home, but there are just so many hours in the day.  It works for a while, but then the pressure starts to build to get everything else done in between painting and working.

Second, painting daily improves your skill tremendously!  As the days progressed, painting became so easy.  I was even impressing myself with what I was doing.  I loved being "in the zone" of painting daily.  It was amazing!  I look forward to retirement from the "real job"....guess what I will be doing~

Third, I think I could have been successful if I had painted pears only.  I love painting pears and it comes very easy for me.  Instead, I tried to think of new and different things to paint which expanded my horizons as an artist, but added the pressure of breaking new ground in skill level daily~

And last~ I realized what a full wonderful life I have.  My wonderful Kevin, who is so supportive of what I do, deserved more attention than I gave him.  I am sure he would have liked to have me sit and watch him watch soccer more than I did....or maybe not~
I have wonderful children and a beautiful granddaughter that are so much fun! I could never pass on a shopping or cupcake adventure~

Up next!  Well, the house is clean, the storage building has been emptied, and the taxes have been filed~ time to get back to what I love!  There are large cupcake paintings coming soon, more ballerinas, and of course pears.  I am looking forward to Spring and painting lots of flowers~  Maybe this is the year I will finally start the "porch" paintings.  Sitting on my porch in the evening and painting~

On Point IV

On Point IV
5" x 7"
Acrylic Paint on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
~Sold~

I'm back!!  Finally back in the studio and playing catch up with the 30 in 30.  This painting is posted as #18.  I have to catch up with painting 14-17 as I missed those.  I will post these paintings as soon as they are completed, but they will not included on Leslie's blog as I missed the deadline.

I fell Tuesday~ one of those nasty old lady falls that leave a mark.  I hit the wall with my face on the way down and the headache has just now subsided.  I might need to invest in one of those "I have fallen" buttons.  My granddaughter was with me and it was really funny.  I am laying on the floor dazed and she is looking down at me saying "It be alright GaGa - you okay?"  Yes, it was hard not to cuss and cry, but I didn't want to give her an even bigger story to go home and tell her mother....."Mommy, GaGa fell down and cried and said the bad words" --yepper, we couldn't have that~

On Point IV is #18 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days with Leslie Saeta.

On Point IV was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a museum quality gallery wrapped canvas with painted sides to allow for hanging without a frame.  Painting can also be placed on a small easel for display.
