Where did the time go~

Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans~
I disappeared for a while. Things have been so busy between family and work and getting everyone back to their respective schools--don't forget to add in car trouble and general scheduling conflicts.
Now that everyone is settled where they need to be, it is time to get back to work. I have missed painting. Here is a collection of what has happened since we visited last.
Pear for Kevin
4" x 5" x 1.5"
Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
My dear sweet Kevin has waited patiently and reminded me often about how much he wanted me to paint a pear with a bite out of it--- much like the one on the backside of his girlfriend "iPhone". Well, I finally took the time to paint what he wanted. I don't think much of it, but he was really pleased.

Audrey Grace

Time flies when you are having fun! It has been almost a year since Miss Audrey arrived. She came to spend Grandparent's Day with me and Kevin. She also had a checkup scheduled at Levine Children's Hospital so we spent several days together before she had to go home. We had so much fun. We picked out her Halloween costume, her dress for Thanksgiving, and helped her mom make plans for the upcoming birthday party. Being a grandma is fabulous!

Lemons in Red Bowl IV

I have recently participated in Art Shows at EBSQart.com. I was thrilled and honored to have my Lemons and Red Bowl IV chosen as Member's Choice of the "Still Life with Lemon" show.

Remember when I was working feverishly to finish my submissions for the "Ripped Off Show" My painting that I ripped from Sherry Key was chosen Member's Mention. My painting that I ripped from Amanda Makepeace was selected as Patron's Choice by the non-members of the website. I love participating in the shows at EBSQart.com, they are challenging and it is so rewarding to be recognized for your work.

Sherry's Rain

Orchid for Amanda

Well, that about brings us up to date~ painting tonight with a new small pear painting to be listed tomorrow, something in fall colors.

I will be finishing up the rooster and maybe I will paint a baby chick with an egg to go with it. I have the idea in my head for a ladybug painting.....I might try to get that on canvas by the end of the week. Of course, there will be more pears....and maybe a cupcake!

Thanks for stopping by~

Sherry's Rain, getting started
painted black over sketch

This is my entry into this year's Ripped Off show. I love participating in this show. It gives me the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and do something new and different. This is the first time I have attempted painting with a knife. It was so much fun, I may have to do more knife paintings!

I "ripped" Nature's Art by Sherry Key. Thank you so much Sherry for asking me to partner with you this year. It was and honor and tons of fun to rip your work.

Sherry's Rain was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a gallery wrapped museum quality canvas with painted sides to allow for hanging without a frame. Painting was finished with a light coat of varnish.

This painting was gifted to Sherry Key. Prints of this painting can be purchased from Fine Art America.com.

This is the first of three entries I will be painting for "The Ripped Off" show at EBSQart.com. Next, I am ripping "Room with a View" by Amanda Makepeace. That painting will be posted later this week.

Thank you for stopping by~

Artist Sherry Key ~ Ripped me off~

E-MOTO

by: Sherry Key

Entry in EBSQart.com "Ripped Off" Show

Ripped ~ Big Bird

Watercolor, 2002

I love participating with other artists in the Ripped Off shows at EBSQart.com. I have partnered with Sherry Key this year, and she finished way ahead of me. This is her entry in the show. She ripped the original watercolor big bird painting I did in 2002 ~ I was a newbie to painting then and I signed my paintings "Victoria".

Check out this painting and other original works by Sherry Key at EBSQart.com.

I will be working on Sherry's painting for the next few days, hopefully posting a picture of the final painting soon.

Thanks for stopping by~

It is time to RIP OFF!

Claudia's Calla Lilies
8" x 10"
Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
Ripped Off Entry 2009

One of my favorite things every year is the Ripped Off show at EBSQart.com. This is where you pair up with someone, and go through their portfolio and "rip off" a piece of their artwork. It can be one piece or a combination, your interpretation of their work, ideas, medium, technique. This year I have paired with three artists. I will be very busy this month trying to finish all the paintings on time. The first one to tackle is a photo from Sherry Key. I plan on painting this with acrylic paint on a gallery wrapped canvas (16" x 20"). I chose this piece because it is loose and colorful and I can play with swirling puddles of paint.
My next artist to rip is Amanda Makepeace. I have loved this painting since I first saw it and I can't wait to do my version of her lovely orchid. I am still working with several ideas, I can't decide whether to crop the painting and do a version of just the center or back out and do the orchid ~ I have time to decide while I finish my version of Sherry's photo. My orchid painting will be acrylic paint on a 16" x 20" gallery wrapped canvas.

Now comes the hardest part, I am torn between the two photographs from EBSQ artist Carissa Martos. I love both the photos and don't know which one I can render the best painted version. I would love to paint the Golden Gate bridge, but I am afraid my skill level is not quite there yet. I have decided to paint this one last, that way I have time to decide and maybe paint both and see which one I like the best.

Well, as you can see, I have my work cut out for me and I had better get busy. I will be posting the paintings as I finish them before I send them off to live with their artist owners that I Ripped Off.
