Highway Poppies

Highway Poppies
6" x  6"
Acrylic Paint on Ampersand Gessobord
~Sold~

Highway Poppies is #13 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days with Leslie Saeta.  This painting was finished the day before the "big fall".  I was getting behind as it was, but this has really put a damper on things.  I slipped in the hallway and fell.  Before I actually hit the floor, my face hit the wall.  This has been a set back in my 30 paintings in 30 days~   I will have to double up this weekend and, hopefully, get back on track.  I am sure the face will get back to normal...just some swelling and discoloration...and a big freakin headache!   But, back to the poppies.  My first year in North Carolina I was amazed at the beautiful poppies growing along the highways. The spring in North Carolina is fabulous--poppies, day lilies, magnolias, camelias, gardenias, crepe myrtle, the list of flowers is endless...

Highway Poppies was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a museum quality Ampersand Gessobord.  This painting can be slipped into a frame or placed on a small easel for display.

Well, off to try and get some sleep.....finding a not so sore spot of the head to lay on the pillow is tough~

The Secret Place

The Secret Place
6" x  6"
Acrylic Paint on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
~Sold~

A change of pace for me. I wanted to paint something colorful and romantic. After looking through all my reference photos, I found just the right one. A secluded little bistro table for two for an afternoon glass of wine or a morning brunch.  Kevin hates the title. His exact words were "how can it be a secret with a bright red umbrella"....he does have a point.

The Secret Place was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a museum quality gallery wrapped canvas with painted sides to allow for hanging without a frame.

This painting has sold.

Today~ painting a cupcake!

Bluebonnet Road

Bluebonnet Road
6" x  6"
Acrylic Paint on Ampersand Claybord
~Sold~

You can always tell when I get a bit homesick...I paint my memories of Texas.  I don't often paint landscapes and I started off disappointed with this one.  After encouragement from Kevin and a bit of reworking, it is now my favorite.

This painting was selected as Facebook "Pick of the Day" by DailyPaintworks.com on Facebook.

This painting has sold.

I am in the middle of finishing my porch painting for the DailyPaintworks challenge.  After that...maybe I will finally finish my Rooster painting from last year or the portrait of Miss Audrey.

Thanks for stopping by~

Tornado! ~

Tornado!
18" x 24"
Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas

I have been wanting to paint a tornado for a while and when I was given the opportunity to show my work at WSOC-TV in Charlotte, I immediately thought of doing a weather related painting. I finally put the tornado in my dreams on canvas.....you know what I mean, the recurrent tornado dream......I am so pleased the way it turned out, this will be a series! There will be tornadoes in all sizes and colors, after all, I do have those peaky dreams for reference.....HA!!!

Tornado was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on museum quality gallery wrapped canvas with painted sides to allow for hanging without a frame. Painting was finished with a light coat of varnish.

This painting was created for my upcoming show in May at the ABC affiliate TV station WSOC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina.

This painting will be available for purchase online after the show beginning in June 2011.

This will probably be the last painting created specifically for the show in Charlotte. It is time now for framing and finishing touches for the show.

UP NEXT!

Break~ I have a very full calendar in May, spending time with children and babysitting Audrey Grace. They have all been very nice about my constant painting the last few months. I have two pear commissions to finish and then back to painting for the stores.

I will be posting all the paintings included in the show in Charlotte in the days to come.

Thank you so much for stopping by~

Sherry's Rain, getting started
painted black over sketch

This is my entry into this year's Ripped Off show. I love participating in this show. It gives me the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and do something new and different. This is the first time I have attempted painting with a knife. It was so much fun, I may have to do more knife paintings!

I "ripped" Nature's Art by Sherry Key. Thank you so much Sherry for asking me to partner with you this year. It was and honor and tons of fun to rip your work.

Sherry's Rain was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a gallery wrapped museum quality canvas with painted sides to allow for hanging without a frame. Painting was finished with a light coat of varnish.

This painting was gifted to Sherry Key. Prints of this painting can be purchased from Fine Art America.com.

This is the first of three entries I will be painting for "The Ripped Off" show at EBSQart.com. Next, I am ripping "Room with a View" by Amanda Makepeace. That painting will be posted later this week.
