Day 10, but not painting #10 HA! Martini, Stirred XI

Martini, Stirred XI
8" x 10"
Acrylic Paint on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
~Sold~

Day Ten of the 30 paintings in 30 days with Leslie Saeta.  I love painting martinis almost as much as drinking them!  Time to put the vodka away and get busy!!  I am so many paintings behind on the 30 in 30.  This is actually the sixth painting for me~

Martini, Stirred XI was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a museum quality gallery wrapped canvas with painted sides to allow for display without a frame. Painting was finished with a light coat of varnish.

This painting has sold.

I have no clue what to paint for tomorrow~

Thank you for stopping by,

It has been a while since I painted martinis-- it has been fun. I am almost finished with the new Martini, Stirred painting. After that, there is the large pear painting to finish.

There are so many things I want to paint~ and so little time!

Check back soon for another new painting.

Martini Painting in Progress~

In Progress~
Martini, Stirred VIII
16" x 20"
Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas

Martini, Stirred VII
~Sold~
This weekend was supposed to be filled with painting.........well, didn't happen.

Miranda and Dustin found the perfect house for their little family and we spent the weekend moving from various storage buildings in Charlotte and Shelby to Morganton. It was a fun filled weekend with the unforeseen mishaps that often accompany moving. Once all the boxes are unpacked and everything is in place, we will have fun with decorating!

Time to get back to painting. By popular demand, I am working on two martini paintings. Here is a glimpse of Martini, Stirred VIII in progress. This will be similar to the previous Martini, Stirred painting, but I think I will add more swirls of color.

The second martini painting will be shades of gold, yellow, brown and a touch of red. This will be a very loosely painted and more abstract martini painting.

Hopefully, there will be a completed martini painting soon.

Have a happy Monday~

Salt and Pepper on Green ~ Prints now available

Salt and Pepper on Green
Available now in Print

A collector purchased my Salt and Pepper on Red painting and decided her best friend needed the same painting in green. She commissioned this small salt and pepper still life painting. A print of Salt and Pepper on Green is currently available in my Gallery at Fine Art America.

I spent last evening at the gallery crawl in the NoDa area of Charlotte. It was so much fun~ Viewing the work of other fine artists is so inspiring.

Today~

I will be spending the day in the studio today. Currently in progress are two new martini paintings and a new large pear painting. All the paintings are 16" x 20". The new pear painting is a colorful red pear with a light in color loosely painted background.

I had a wonderful time on my trip to Ohio. It was so much fun playing with Taylor at Miami University at Oxford, Ohio. Now that I am home, there is so much catching up to do. I do plan or participating in the newest painting challenge at Different Strokes from Different Folks. This time we are painting rooftops. I am thinking of painting mine very colorful and abstract....we will just have to see what happens.

The ballerina paintings are almost finished. I am hoping to have them finished by the end of the weekend. There is so much to do and so little time. I am working the "real job" this weekend and there is my nephew's wedding shower to attend on Sunday~ Congratulations Jeremy and Andrea!

Happy Friday, New Martini Painting~

Three Olive Martini VI
16" x 20"
Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
~Sold~

I have not painted a large martini painting in a while. This painting was half started and sitting in the corner of the studio, I felt sorry for it and finished it so it would not have to linger alone neglected in the corner. Three Olive Martini VI is currently available for purchase in my EBSQart.com Gallery and in my Etsy.com store.

I had such a fun day yesterday when my painting "The Rocks of Lake Lure" was Art of the Day at EBSQart.com. Alas, my 24-hours is over and I am now a has-been. Thank you everyone for your kind words and emails.

I spent the afternoon yesterday looking for fixative to pursue my Doodle adventure. After driving 30 miles and visiting every art supply store in Gastonia (the fear of having to go all the way to Charlotte was beginning to set in) I found the only Windsor Newton fixative left in the city. I am very proud of myself for not stepping into Krispy Kreme.....the hot light was on!

After work this afternoon is the big decision......play with pastels and new fixative, or mop the nasty kitchen floor............I am not expecting company---no one but me will see the floor......
I will be drawing and playing in the studio; the dirty kitchen floor will be there tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by,

The Rocks of Lake Lure, Art of the Day~ EBSQart.com

The Rocks of Lake Lure
16" x 20"
Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
~Sold~

I am so very excited to have "The Rocks of Lake Lure" selected for Art of the Day at EBSQart.com I don't paint very many landscapes and this is a favorite of mine. It was purchased from eBay.com by the current owner of The Lake Lure Inn and Spa for their Gallery. I am so happy it found a home at Lake Lure.

I have hit a small glitch in my pastel doodle adventure. ~No fixative. There is no art store in town, so ROAD TRIP! I will be off to the art supply store by the end of the week. Then, I will be back to work with the pastel doodles. Art supply stores are very dangerous for me, wandering down every aisle and looking at all the fabulous art supplies~wondering how much of it I can fit into the car......

I have spent this evening working on a large martini painting (16" x 20"). I should have it finished by the end of the week.

Thanks for stopping by,

Torrie

New Pear Paintings Today!

Two Green Pears II
6" x 6" Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas

Leftover Pear

6" x 6" Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas

Two new pear paintings! I have listed new small pear paintings in all the usual places, the etsy.com store, my eBay store, and my web gallery-- the links are to the right.

For those of you who are tired of all the pears. I will be starting an orchid still life painting tonight. I have a martini painting that needs to be finished and there is the landscape I keep threatening to finish.

Since the housecleaning fairy skipped my house, looks like I will have to clean house and do laundry for myself. I know there is a housecleaning fairy that keeps other houses clean. There has to be......who has time to clean house...

Thanks for stopping by to look at the new work!

Check back again soon!

Grandma's Lemons, New Painting!

Grandma's Lemons

8" x 10" Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas

This lemon press/juicer has been used to make lemon pies for five generations of my family. I had bought a bag of lemons to use in still life arrangements --after taking reference photos....we made a pie.
My apologies for my gallery being down for the last few days. EBSQart.com which hosts my gallery lost a server. The new server is in place and the gallery is again up and running and even faster!
Currently working on new martini paintings. These should be done hopefully by the end of the long weekend.
I am really going to finish the landscape paintings in the studio.....the Monet style pond and the poppy landscape are on their way to being completed.
I have to weed the flower bed and plant the tomatos---then back to painting!
Thanks for stopping by!

Three Olive Martini IV

Three Olive Martini IV

Commissioned Painting

I am caught up! For the time being.

I have sent five paintings to be included in the gallery opening of Flourish Boutique and Gallery in South Bend, Indiana in June. If you are near there in June, stop in and check it out! I will give more updates as the time for the opening nears.

I have just finished this commissioned martini painting and can now get back to the other paintings I have been working on.

I will be opening a store at http://www.zazzle.com/ soon. You will be able to purchase my art in prints, cards, and other gift items. I will update you when the store is opened.

The weather has been wonderful! Much needed rain is here! I have planted hydrangeas, begonias, azaleas, and calla lilies. Soon there will be paintings of them all!

Biggest news! My orchid plant that has been in my studio for two years.....just three green leaves and a stick has finally bloomed! There are three beautiful orchids. These will definitely be in a painting very soon.

Thanks for stopping by....there will be more paintings soon,

Torrie

These are two new painting just listed for sale, you can purchase through the title link at my http://www.torriesmiley.etsy.com/ store or from me directly at my website gallery http://www.torriesmiley.com/

Things are starting to slow down. Courtney is back at Chapel Hill, after a mild concussion. (Low blood sugar resulted in a fainting spell and a knot on her forehead the size of a small country!) She is doing well, but I am exhausted. My children are making me old! My worry wrinkle is getting deeper----

I have been getting paintings ready for a gallery opening in June in South Bend, Indiana. I will give more details as the time draws near.

I am still working on the martini commissions...but there are some other new paintings that will be finished soon...so keep in touch.
