Day Ten of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days ~ Wine and Grapes

Wine and Grapes
5" x  7"
Acrylic Paint on Canvas Panel
~Sold~

I had high hopes of getting caught up today~  no such luck.  I knew when I started this painting it would be time consuming....but I am so happy with the result.

I will be spending the evening catching up on stuff like laundry and getting ready for the work week. I also have to ship a painting that sold today.   There will be plenty of time to get caught up.  (Famous last words!)

Wine and Grapes was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a museum quality canvas panel with painted sides to allow for display without a frame.  This painting will easily slide into a frame or can be placed on a small display easel.

Happy New Year!  This is going to be a fabulous year! ~ best year ever!!

Yes, I am going to do the 30 paintings in 30 days with Leslie Saeta.  No I have not learned my lesson, I know I never get the 30 completed~ but I am determined to do better than the previous challenges.

The first painting is Tar Heel Martini III.  I am a born and bred die hard Texan....but, I am now a Tar Heel mom, and one day will I probably be a Tar Heel Grandma.  My daughter and her husband decided to stay in Chapel Hill after they graduated and raise their family.  Who knows, I might end up there one day myself.

Enjoy Day One of the challenge, and I will see you back here tomorrow.

Thank you for stopping by,

Sea of Clouds

Sea of Clouds
12" x 12"
Acrylic Paint on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
~Sold~

Time to paint again!

My surgery went well and I am on the mend.  Miranda's surgery was successful.  My new granddaughter and Miranda are going to be fine!  Audrey is very excited to have a new sister arriving in October. The ultrasound showed very long legs, just like her daddy~ After a less than wonderful six months, the six months to come are going to be fabulous!

I am getting all the paint and canvas out and painting again ~ wooohoooo!

Sea of Clouds was completed just before my surgery and the final varnish is going on today~

Sea of Clouds was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a museum quality gallery wrapped canvas. The gallery wrapped sides of the canvas are painted to allow for hanging with or without a frame.

Thank you so much for continuing to follow my work, especially during the hard times when new paintings were rarely posted.

Pear Study with Lemon

Pear Study with Lemon
5" x 7"
Acrylic Paint on Ampersand Aquabord
Collection of the Artist

This is the study I did while working on a larger Pear commissioned painting.

Pear Study with Lemon was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a museum quality gallery Ampersand Aquabord. Painting can be placed in a small frame and also be placed on a small easel for display.

I have started working on the larger canvas as I had planned....going bigger with my painting-- it is sketched out, but no paint on the canvas yet. Hopefully, I will begin working on it soon.  It is going to be a West Texas landscape.

I took an Ink class this past week, it was quite fascinating. You just might see some small abstract ink studies in the near future~

Highway Poppies

Highway Poppies
6" x  6"
Acrylic Paint on Ampersand Gessobord
~Sold~

Highway Poppies is #13 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days with Leslie Saeta.  This painting was finished the day before the "big fall".  I was getting behind as it was, but this has really put a damper on things.  I slipped in the hallway and fell.  Before I actually hit the floor, my face hit the wall.  This has been a set back in my 30 paintings in 30 days~   I will have to double up this weekend and, hopefully, get back on track.  I am sure the face will get back to normal...just some swelling and discoloration...and a big freakin headache!   But, back to the poppies.  My first year in North Carolina I was amazed at the beautiful poppies growing along the highways. The spring in North Carolina is fabulous--poppies, day lilies, magnolias, camelias, gardenias, crepe myrtle, the list of flowers is endless...

Highway Poppies was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a museum quality Ampersand Gessobord.  This painting can be slipped into a frame or placed on a small easel for display.

Well, off to try and get some sleep.....finding a not so sore spot of the head to lay on the pillow is tough~

Strawberries and Grapes

Strawberries and Grapes

Acrylic Paint on Ampersand Gessobord

I can remember the girls coming in the kitchen, seeing a bowl of fruit and saying "Can we eat this or are you going to paint it"....the memories.... I starting bringing the food home from the Farmer's market and taking quick reference photos before the kids came in and the fruit disappeared.  I have had this reference photo around for a while and finally got brave enough to give it a try....grapes are not easy!
Well, I am very happy with way it turned out and slowing conquering my fear of grapes...HA!

Strawberries and Grapes was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on Ampersand Gessobord. Painting was finished with a light coat of varnish. This painting can be slipped into a frame or placed on a small easel.

Now off to paint flowers maybe...but lemons will be involved....there are two in the 'fridge~

Daisies and Lemons ~ New small painting

Daisies and Lemons
6" x 6"
Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
~Sold~

After unloading everything from my daughter's baby shower in October 2009, I had a few centerpieces at the house. I put one on the table added a few lemons and took reference photos thinking that needs to be a painting someday......someday finally got here and I painted a small still life of the flowers from her shower. Yes, the baby is here and she is beautiful and 7 months old. Yes, I am finally getting caught up and painting new and different things~

Daisies and Lemons was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a gallery wrapped museum quality canvas with painted sides to allow for hanging without a frame. Painting was finished with a light coat of varnish.

This painting has sold. To see paintings currently available for purchase, please visit my website gallery or my Etsy.com store.

Coming up~

I am so excited to be included in the EBSQ artists who blog~ the interview will be coming out next week and I will post a link then.

It is time for the Ripped Off show at EBSQart.com. I have agreed to participate with three artists this year (what was I thinking!) I had better get busy~ I will post the paintings as they are finished along with link to the various artists websites.

Yes, I am still working on the martini painting...I have come to the un-fun part, and I guess that could be why it is sitting in the corner half finished.......staring at me with that "you don't love me" glare. All that is left to do is the detail of the glass-- may this week.

Well, I had better get busy, there is much to paint and so little time~

Thank you for stopping by~

Tar Heel Martini, New March Madness Painting!

Tar Heel Martini

16"x 20" Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
Available on Auction at eBay

It is that time of year again! March Madness! It all started when my daughter was accepted at UNC Chapel Hill. Since then, I have started watching a lot of basketball. This painting has been in the back of my mind for a while.....well, I let it out and here it is......

Tar Heel Martini, --- my daughter said it needed more Carolina blue, but I like it.

I will be headed off to UNC to take her back to school from Spring break this weekend. There is no telling what I will be inspired to paint while I am on campus!

I will be painting more than usual this next week....but it will be the bathroom walls. I am doing some more work on the continuing project that is my house.

I do have a waterlily painting drawn on canvas and ready to paint, similar in style to the ones of Monet. There will also be more pear paintings.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the art!
