Day Eleven of the 30 in 30! Red Poppy

Red Poppy
6" x  6"
Acrylic Paint on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
~Sold~

Day Eleven of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days in September with Leslie Saeta and this is painting #8.  I am really behind, but I am going to catch up!  Hopefully, I will get more done tomorrow.  Today's painting is from photos I had taken several summers ago.  Poppies were blooming along the highway and I stopped and took pictures.  I have painted several landscapes from those photos.  Today I cropped one poppy out and went for it.  I knew this would take quite some time to do, but I went for it!

Red Poppy was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a museum quality gallery wrapped canvas with painted sides to allow for display without a frame. Painting was finished with a light coat of varnish.

This painting has sold.

I will be painting again tomorrow with an artist friend and I am really looking forward to it.  Hopefully, will be posting more then.

Highway Poppies

Highway Poppies
6" x  6"
Acrylic Paint on Ampersand Gessobord
~Sold~

Highway Poppies is #13 of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days with Leslie Saeta.  This painting was finished the day before the "big fall".  I was getting behind as it was, but this has really put a damper on things.  I slipped in the hallway and fell.  Before I actually hit the floor, my face hit the wall.  This has been a set back in my 30 paintings in 30 days~   I will have to double up this weekend and, hopefully, get back on track.  I am sure the face will get back to normal...just some swelling and discoloration...and a big freakin headache!   But, back to the poppies.  My first year in North Carolina I was amazed at the beautiful poppies growing along the highways. The spring in North Carolina is fabulous--poppies, day lilies, magnolias, camelias, gardenias, crepe myrtle, the list of flowers is endless...

Highway Poppies was painted using professional artist grade acrylic paint on a museum quality Ampersand Gessobord.  This painting can be slipped into a frame or placed on a small easel for display.

Well, off to try and get some sleep.....finding a not so sore spot of the head to lay on the pillow is tough~

Summer Poppies III

The Bird 2011
11" x 14"
Acrylic Paint on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
~Sold~

I have finished the above commissions and have started two new paintings. I am working on a submission for The Daily Paintworks "Paint What You Paint With Challenge" this is going to be fun one. It is a composition with paint brushes, my little mister bottle, paint, and of course a pear. The background will be my favorite greenish-gray color that I use in several of my paintings.

Next, I am painting a portrait of my granddaughter. I took a picture of Audrey standing looking out the window in my studio when she was just learning to stand and walk. I hope it turns out as well as I envision it in my head.

Well, that should keep me busy. I will sneak in a little 6" x 6" painting of something in the meantime.
