Fresh Orange II ~ New Painting.

Fresh Orange II
5" x 7"
Oil on Canvas Panel
~Sold~

I originally painted this composition in 2008. It is hard to believe it has been two years! It seems like yesterday. I loved painting it then and it was just as fun the second time around.

Fresh Orange II was painted using professional artist grade oil paint on a small canvas panel. Painting can be framed or placed on a small display easel. Painting was finished with a light coat of varnish.

I am busy finishing the lily pond paintings. I started painting two different compositions, now it is going to be three. I am going to do a rendition of one of Monets' paintings of a woman in a boat in the pond at Giverny. Hopefully, they will all be finished by the end of the week.

Next up, the ballerina paintings are going to be finished and I am beginning a large pear painting (16" x 20").

Thanks for stopping by and check back again soon.

I just finished the new pomegranate painting. Courtney Grace is hooked on pomegranate. Pomegranate lotion, shower gel, chapstick, chewing gum......she left pomegranate juice in my refrigerator when she went back to school......Pomegranate martinis for me!

The new painting is available in my Etsy.com store and at my Ebsqart.com gallery

I slept the morning away....(I never sleep late!) so, I am off to a late start! There will be lots of painting done this weekend, getting back into the swing of things since the Holidays. Check back again soon and see what I paint next.

Thanks for dropping by!

Fresh Orange, New small oil painting!

This is the newest of my small oil paintings on canvas panels. I am trying to paint daily, which finding the time is the biggest challenge, but I am having so much fun and learning so much.
I am always painting pears. I thought I would branch out a bit and paint an orange. I really like how this one turned out. I am thinking of branching out to more food groups!
This painting is available for purchase from my gallery and in my Etsy.com store.

I have errands to run but, hopefully, will have time to paint something new tonight.

Thanks for checking in~

The Lazy Pear - New Painting for today!

Okay, from now on, I test drive the pear before I bring it home from the grocery store. I picked out my pear and had planned to stand it up, spotlight it to get a heavy shadow and paint a standing pear with a long heavy shadow.....it refused to stay standing. I finally gave up and just painted it laying down. Now, I will test every fruit for its ability to stand before I bring it home.

Next up, look for another new pear painting tomorrow. I will be finishing it up tonight.

Thanks again for checking in ~~

Sneak Peak!

Currently on the easel
This will be titled "Pink Tulips, Green Pears"--maybe..

Remember when John Lennon said, "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans"--well, that would explain the lack of posts and new paintings! I have now figured out, I get the flu shot, so I can take care of everyone who chooses NOT to get the flu shot! Gallons of ginger ale, soup, and Lysol wipes later......it is time to paint!

And now for planned art ~~ : )

I don't generally post the reference photo when I have just finished the drawing, but I wanted to give you a hint. Tomorrow's game plan is to start painting this wonderful tulip painting. I guess I am just hurrying spring, but I picked up these tulips for a centerpiece at this past week's Mary Kay party and had to paint them.

I have also begun drawing a water lily painting/koi pond. (Another hint that I can't wait for spring!)

And last but surely not least---I have a started another "Old Red Boat" painting...this time 16" x 20" oil on gallery wrapped canvas.

These are not my usual paintings....I am stepping out of my usual comfort zone and painting spring!

Check back again soon to see the progress.

Old Red Boat

Old Red Boat

eBay store auction:
http://stores.ebay.com/Torrie-Smiley-Original-Works-of-Art

I don't know what it is with me and oil paint, but I get it all over me. There is more paint on me than on this small 8" x 10" canvas panel.
I have finished the much talked about and slowly painted red boat. I hope you like it.
Time for a break.

New Pear Painting

New Pear Painting

Two Pears
eBay store auction:
I have not painted pears in a while. I was really pleased with the way this one turned out. There are days where things just come together and you don't want to stop to sleep or eat, because the ideas and ability may not be there when you come back.

Two Pears - Pear painting in progress.

This is the photo reference that was used to paint Two Pears. I really don't know how my brain took the two green and red pears above and turned it into this.......but, I hope it remembers how... I do believe art comes from both skill, god-given talent, and dumb luck.

Thanks for stopping by... I am working on the old red boat in oil, so I am covered in paint....
